Hand Forged Talisman Jewelry for Personal Adornment

Born in Akron, I am proud to be making hand forged talisman jewelry for personal adornment locally in my West Akron Studio, transforming raw materials into beautiful, meaningful jewelry that celebrates individuality and style.

I began my journey into the art of adornment while living in Spain, where I made colorful hair wraps on the beach, incorporating beads into each design. Those days in the sun sparked my love for beads and led me to take a glass lampworking class in the late 90s. Working with glass became a passion, I was hooked on transforming molten glass into beautiful bead jewelry. For two years I lived and volunteered in Cameroon, West Africa as an English Teacher with the Peace Corps and learned about, Grigris, Talismans, and African Trade Beads and discovered the magic of how glass beads used to be made. It opened my eyes to how I could weave those influences into my art. Talk about an adventure!

When I came back to the US, I hit the road full time in an RV and traveled to art shows for a couple of years. But then, life happened — marriage and motherhood took center stage, and my art took a backseat. I dabbled in glass here and there, but nothing serious

Then came 2020 — a year that turned everything upside down! Stuck at home, I felt the creative itch and decided it was time to get back in the game. I dove into YouTube, soaking up everything I could about silversmithing. It was a process filled with trial and error, but through persistence, I discovered a new love for shaping silver and finding new ways to incorporate my lampwork glass beads into unique jewelry pieces.

These days I love spending hours in the studio, where I create truly unique pieces that reflect my journey and experiences. Each piece is a blend of my love for beads, glass, and silver, designed to be worn every day and to hold personal meaning.

My work is a harmonious blend of color, texture, and symbolism, drawing inspiration from nature, culture, and my crazy travels. Whether it's a funky bracelet that adds a touch of whimsy or a statement necklace that serves as a powerful charm.

The name Amiruu comes from a blend of two words that together mean "spirit protector," encapsulating a profound essence of safeguarding and empowerment, and reflects the deep connection between personal adornment and the protective energies jewelry has been known to carry throughout the ages. Each piece crafted under the Amiruu name is more than just an accessory; it serves as a powerful talisman, inviting wearers to embrace their individuality and celebrate their unique journeys.
